When to replace tyres in UAE summer heat
Jawwy Garage · 2 October 2026
Signs your tyres need replacing in UAE heat: tread depth, cracks, bulges, age and pressure — plus simple checks you can do at home.
Why heat is hard on tyres
UAE summers put tyres under more stress than almost anywhere else. Air temperatures above 45°C and road surfaces that can pass 60°C make rubber age faster, raise tyre pressure and increase the risk of a blowout. Long highway drives on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road or Emirates Road add sustained heat build-up on top.
That means the usual advice from cooler countries does not always apply. A tyre can still have tread left and yet be unsafe because the rubber has dried out and cracked.
Five signs it is time for new tyres
1. Low tread depth. Replace tyres when the tread is below about 3 mm. Most tyres have small tread-wear bars in the grooves; when the tread is level with these bars, the tyre is worn out.
2. Cracks in the sidewall or between the tread blocks. Fine cracking is a classic sign of heat ageing and means the rubber is losing strength.
3. Bulges or bubbles on the sidewall. These show internal damage, often after hitting a kerb or pothole. A bulging tyre should be replaced immediately — it can fail without warning.
4. Age. In UAE heat, we recommend replacing tyres at around five years old even if the tread looks fine. Check the four-digit DOT code on the sidewall: 1521 means week 15 of 2021.
5. Vibration or uneven wear. Wear on one edge often points to alignment problems; cupped or patchy wear can mean balancing or suspension issues. Our team can check the cause so new tyres last longer.
Simple checks to do every month
Check your tyre pressure when the tyres are cold — first thing in the morning before driving. Use the pressure printed on the sticker inside the driver's door, not the maximum figure on the tyre. Under-inflated tyres flex more, run hotter and are far more likely to fail in summer.
Look over each tyre for cracks, bulges, nails or screws, and do not forget the spare. If your car has a tyre pressure warning light (TPMS) that stays on, have the sensors checked — TPMS diagnosis and programming takes 10–20 minutes at Jawwy Garage.
Rotation and alignment
Rotating tyres every 8,000–10,000 km spreads wear evenly between front and rear. Pair rotation with a wheel alignment check: alignment starts from AED 80 and takes 20–40 minutes, and balancing starts from AED 60.
Parking and storage tips
Park in the shade or under a cover when you can. Direct sun on a parked car heats the sidewalls for hours every day. If a car will sit for weeks over summer, inflate the tyres to the recommended pressure first and move the car occasionally to avoid flat spots.
If you are unsure about your tyres, visit our workshop in Ras Al Khor Industrial Area 1, Dubai, Saturday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 9:15 PM, or send a photo on WhatsApp to +971 52 320 6777.
Questions
How long do tyres last in the UAE?
In UAE heat, plan to replace tyres at about five years old, or sooner if tread is below 3 mm or the rubber is cracked.
What tyre pressure should I use in summer?
Use the pressure on the sticker inside the driver's door, checked when tyres are cold.
How often should I rotate my tyres?
Every 8,000–10,000 km, ideally with an alignment check.
